Mathematics is all around us! Not only does it play a huge impact on our daily lives, but it is also crucial to everything from business and technology to science and engineering.

Academic mathematics not only helps us make sense of numbers and equations, but it also sets the stage for a deeper understanding of our world in general.

Having a good grasp of mathematical concepts will help develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills which is essential to future success, regardless of the further education we embark on.

If your child could benefit from some one-on-one math tuition lessons to get a leg up in academic life, fret not, we got your back!

At Private Tutor SG, our team of caring, encouraging Singapore math tutors will completely tailor a learning experience based on individual needs so that he or she can ace those exams!

Secondary School Mother Tongue

Secondary School Mother Tongue

Knowledge of a second language is a privilege, and thankfully, the Singapore school syllabus makes us all effectively bilingual. Whether students choose to learn Chinese, Malay, or Tamil, the Mother Tongue is a crucial subject that plays a vital role in teaching and preserving culture and a sense of community. In secondary school, the curriculum becomes more advanced and focuses on higher levels of language proficiency including comprehension, essay writing skills, literature, and cultural appreciation.

Some students might experience difficulties with the more complex language lessons, especially if they speak predominantly English with their family and friends. Our team of experienced language tutors can help bridge knowledge gaps and promote a better understanding of the language and culture!

Educational Philosophy and Approach

Our Educational Philosophy and Approach for Math Tutoring

We pride ourselves in providing all our students with an engaging and supportive environment for them to be their best.

Catering to the unique needs and learning process of each student, we believe in building a rock-solid foundation in mathematical knowledge, increasing confidence, and sharpening problem-solving skills.

The actual tutoring process will not only benefit students academically, but will also give them a head start to a successful future.

Our younger students will be drilled in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with loads of real-life examples and interactive tools such as learning blocks and visual aids.

With positive reinforcements, rewards, and gradually increasing challenges, young students often overcome the anxiety of failure and seek growth.

Our older students will be schooled in critical thinking, more complex mathematics concepts, and advanced problem-solving skills.

Secondary school students will be given practice exams with increasing difficulty to build confidence and identify weaknesses, while JC math will be preparing students for their ‘A’ levels and eventually, university admission.

Personalized Learning Experience

Mathematics is a tricky subject that makes it incredibly difficult to catch up on once you’ve lagged behind. Not all students learn the same way, and they definitely don’t learn at the same pace!

Without a proper foundation and understanding basic principles, students often struggle with keeping up with future lessons and more complex mathematical concepts.

One-on-one maths private tuition goes at the pace of the individual student, building a rock-solid foundation before moving on to more complex principles.

Math students will have the luxury of learning at their own pace under the guidance of a dedicated math tutor, which will facilitate more effective learning.

In addition, each learning experience is tailored to the student’s optimal style of learning. For example, some might learn by repetition, some by understanding, and some by visualization.

Our team of private mathematics tutors is trained to recognize the strengths of each particular student and customize each lesson accordingly.

Flexible Scheduling and One-on-One Attention

Time is precious, especially if your child’s a busy bee with loads of extracurricular activities! Our flexible lesson times will work around your child’s schedule, making it easier to balance school, ECAs, CCAs, and any other out-of-school activities that he or she may have.

Each typical primary or secondary class has 30 to 40 students, which makes it tough for the teacher to spread the attention around equally.

If your child is feeling a little neglected or left behind in school, it might be time for some one-on-one attention.

Not only will your child benefit from a personalized learning experience, but mistakes and feedback can be immediately identified, corrected, and improved on.

Improvement in Academic Performance

Whether good or bad, the fact remains that Singapore’s educational system is highly competitive and admission to elite schools depends largely on examination results.

While attending an elite school doesn’t always equate to future professional success, it DOES play a significant role in paving the way for it.

Private tutoring can lead to your child’s better grades, a solid, deeper understanding of concepts, and lay the groundwork for entry into fields such as science and engineering.

Building Confidence and Problem-Solving Skills

We humans make plenty of mistakes! After all, that’s how we learn. Making a mistake in the privacy of your own home might be different than making one in front of their friends and classmates.

By having a private tutor, your child will be free to experiment, try, fail, be corrected, and then succeed, all under watchful and encouraging guidance.

As students learn more complex problems and principles, their confidence often grows rapidly, greatly improving their learning curve and mathematical prowess.

Mathematics isn’t just about numbers and equations but it also ingrains in maths students valuable problem-solving skills that will last well into adulthood, if not a lifetime.

Approaching each problem with a logical, methodical approach doesn’t only apply to math, but it can also apply to life!

Common-Math-Challenges-Students-Face

Common Math Challenges Students Face

If the foundation is lacking, more advanced topics and mathematical concepts can be challenging, if not impossible.

Private math tuition can pinpoint the weaknesses in each student and close any gaps to ensure a strong, solid base before the student progresses into the complex topics.

Students might find it difficult to apply their math skills to real-life situations. Our math tutors can help younger children apply real-world examples of how to use their acquired skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

In addition, older students can be shown how their advanced skills can help with everyday life depending on their interests.

For example, a student who loves sports can be shown how geometry can help with shooting hoops or goals.

Students might feel stressed or anxious when it comes to test time, and most certainly do when it comes to major exams.

Our maths home tutors are adept at teaching relaxation techniques as well as administering practice tests to build confidence and reduce anxiety. After all, practice makes perfect!

Trying to catch up with the class if you’ve fallen behind is incredibly difficult, especially for a subject like math.

Everyone learns at a different pace, so if your child has difficulty keeping up, private mathematics tuition lessons can help bring him or her up to speed.
